Osram – one of Germany’s Top Employers

Thanks to the excellence of its HR work, the Top Employers Institute has certified Osram as a Top Employer Germany 2018. “We are delighted to have received this coveted award. The certification confirms that Osram is an attractive high-tech employer for both current and future employees”, says Babette Fröhlich, Chief Human Resource Officer at Osram.

In order to obtain certification by the Top Employers Institute, companies need to adhere to high standards. Third-party auditors have confirmed that Osram displays exceptionally high levels of employee orientation. The HR practices that are surveyed include Workforce Planning, Talent Strategy, Leadership Development, Corporate Culture, and Learning and Development. Recent examples serve to corroborate this certification for Osram.

Osram promotes continuous further development

Osram’s high-tech and digitalization strategy also necessitates changes to the tasks performed by its workforce. Innovations such as laser modules for significantly greater high beam range are only possible through modifications to existing production processes. This is why Osram is upgrading its sites in Germany on a systematic basis and focusing on the professional development of its workforce. At the Berlin plant, for example, employees are being trained to work in the recently opened clean room manufacturing facilities for laser modules. In-company training also plays an important role at Osram’s largest German site in Regensburg, where the company is presently expanding its workforce to around 1,000 employees.

At the current time, Osram has a total of 123 trainees – ranging from mechatronic technicians through to students on cooperative study programs in Master Electrical and Microsystems Engineering.

In April 2018, Osram will be launching its 18-month “Light-Up!” trainee program. This global program enables university graduates to familiarize themselves with various areas of the company and participate in cross-functional projects.

Osram recently received a further accolade – from Deutschland Test. The company was ranked among the top 3 firms in terms of career opportunities for engineers in the electrical industry.
