Osram wins DALI AWARD 2012

Cinema Lido di Venezia

Osram has been awarded the DALI Award 2012 for its project “Cinema Lido di Venezia“ (Venice, Italy) on 16 April 2012 at light+building in Frankfurt on Main. The prize honors especially successful projects in the field of light management. The light installation combines various luminaires – cutting edge fluorescent lamps and LED technology – with a comfortable light management. The DALI system installed is designed for creating and controlling both static and dynamic lighting scenarios.

Light management is one of the most important trends on the lighting market. On the one hand, it enables enormous energy savings, as light is only turned on when needed and no daylight is available. For example, Osram’s light management system Encelium is capable of saving up to 75 percent of the electricity required for lighting. On the other hand, light management allows for spectacular lighting effects. They currently can be admired, for instance, at the light installation Ovo during the Luminale in Frankfurt. The work of art was created by the designer group ACT Lighting Design and the sculpting artists Odeaubois using Osram technology.

DALI stands for “Digital Addressable Lighting Interface“: a digital interface that is in international use as a basis for intelligent, flexible light management. The DALI Award rates the criteria energy efficiency, innovations in technology and design, emotional effects (color change possibilities and dynamic installations) as well as the simplicity of installation.
