Osram is once again the official lighting partner for the Eurovision Song Contest
Vienna and now Stockholm – Osram is the official lighting partner for the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time in a row. The international high-tech lighting company is continuing its successful cooperation with the contest. “We are delighted to be chosen again as the lighting partner for the Eurovision Song Contest”, said Hans-Joachim Schwabe, CEO Specialty Lighting at Osram. “Light is emotion, and emotions play an important role in the presentation of the songs. With the right stage lighting these emotions can be communicated even better to the audience.”
Måns Zelmerlöw from Sweden won the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Heroes”, which means this year's contest moves to his native country. In Stockholm he will be hosting the evening together with Swedish stand-up comedian Petra Mede. Once again this year the hosts and the singers will be presented in the best light thanks to state-of-the-art lighting systems from Osram and its subsidiary Clay Paky. The audience, whether live or watching on TV, can look forward to another show with spectacular lighting effects.
What's more, lighting technology from Osram will enable the audience in Stockholm and anyone else anywhere in the world to show support for their favorite songs. After the success in Vienna last year they will be able again to rate each song with the aid of an app designed specifically for this event and based on Osram's Lightify system. Each number of points from 1 to 12 stands for a particular color. Depending on how many points a singer gets in the Light Voting of Osram and the city of Stockholm, different to last year this time various landmarks in the city and the Eurovision Village will be illuminated in the relevant color. The results will be immediately visible in the city, and also throughout the world via webcams.
The candidates in the Eurovision Song Contest will present their songs in the Globe Arena in Stockholm. The first semi-final will take place on May 10, the second on May 12. The finalists will take the stage on May 14.
Detailed information on the different projects will follow soon. For more information on the Eurovision Song Contest click here and for information on Osram's entertainment lighting click here.
