Osram joins Dow Jones Sustainability Index World for the first time

Roughly one year after its stock market debut, Osram will be included in the globally renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index World. The lighting manufacturer has been notified of this by RobecoSAM, the Swiss investment company that reviews the composition of the index each year on behalf of S&P Dow Jones Indices. The decision is the result of a detailed analysis of various sustainability criteria in which Osram reached a spot among the top ten percent in the sector “Electrical Components & Equipment”. Osram will join the index on September 22, 2014. “Sustainability is a key aspect of our business philosophy. We are very proud to be added to this extremely important sustainability index at our first attempt after going public,” said Wolfgang Dehen, Chief Executive Officer of OSRAM Licht AG.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index World was established in 1999. Members meet material sustainability criteria in the economic, environmental and social areas. In the course of the assessment, the world’s largest companies by market capitalization are rated with regard to their performance in the field of sustainability. For investors, the index is a significant gage of the development of the most sustainably managed companies in the world.
