Osram presents the brightest multi-chip LED for the entertainment sector

Prolight + Sound 2015: all new products for event and entertainment lighting

At Prolight + Sound 2015, April 15 to 18 in Frankfurt, Osram will present its broad specialty lighting portfolio under the slogan, “Light is entertaining”. Visitors will experience this entertainment firsthand at Osram's booth A65, in hall 11. Reminiscent of a stage, the booth will showcase potential applications of event and entertainment lighting – from discharge lamps to LED spotlights. The new Lok-it! and Sirius products will perform in moving heads from Clay Paky and Robe. Osram also will present the brightest entertainment multi-chip LED, called S32, for the first time.

S32 multi-chip LED: extremely high luminance in combination with high luminous flux

From a technological point of view, S32 is based on LED chips arranged close to one another. This arrangement provides extremely high luminance of 100 cd/mm², the brightness of an illuminated area. Moreover, the multi-chip LED has a high luminous flux of up to 15,000 lumen, a lifetime of up to 20,000 hours and integrated temperature-controlled monitoring (NTC). In addition to entertainment lighting, S32 suits industrial and architectural applications, as well as searchlights. At Osram's Prolight + Sound booth, it will be presented in a spotlight prototype.

Lok-it! HTI power series: extremely efficient and robust

Osram has added three more models to its well-known lamp series: 1200W PS, 1400W PS, and 1700W PS. Thanks to the plug-and-play base, the lamps – used for effect, stage, TV, and studio lighting – can be installed quickly and adjusted precisely without any tools. A special filler reduces the otherwise common green color of the metal halide lamps and provides homogeneous illumination. With their color rendering index (CRI) of more than 90, the lamps provide optimum light quality and natural color rendering. What's more, their ceramic bases make them resistant to high voltages of up to 35 kilovolts (kV).

Sirius HRI family: reflector lamps with high luminance for moving heads

At Prolight + Sound, Osram will present two new members of the Sirius HRI family: Sirius HRI 440W and 140W RO. In addition to the two latest models, the powerful metal halide lamps also are available as Sirius HRI 132W, 190W+, 230W, 280W, 330W, 330W XL, and 330W X8. Thanks to their compact and lightweight design, the reflector lamps can be used in moving heads. The very short arc of the Sirius HRIs provides high luminance and constant light output throughout the product’s lifetime. Sirius HRIs are supplied as a complete system, including electronic control gear.

HMI UVS: the latest generation of metal halide lamps (HMI)

HMIs are ideal light sources for filming and events. Their UV stop system reduces UVB and UVC emissions up to 99 percent. There is no loss of light output or color rendering, allowing the light to closely mimic natural daylight. HMI UVS are dimmable and achieve a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, a color rendering index of more than 90, and a light output of 100 lumen/watt. Osram supplies seven HMI UVS versions, ranging from 200 to 1,800 W, for various applications such as filming, TV, and studio productions.

HMI Event puts automobiles in the right light

Osram developed metal halide lamps HMI 575W Event and HMI 1200W Event specifically for car shows; however, HMI Event lamps are suitable for any large events where branding, presentation, and lifelike lighting conditions are a concern. The light is homogeneous, has very little scatter, reduces fluctuations in color and brightness, and maintains a daylight color temperature throughout its lifetime. At Prolight + Sound 2015, HMI lamps will be used in ARRI spotlights.
