ams OSRAM Demo line-up

Intelligent Forward Lighting – EVIYOS®2.0
EVIYOS®2.0, 25,600 pixels of individually brightness controllable high-resolution LEDs, raises automotive headlamp safety to new level of illumination and visualization. In additon to conventional Low and High beam fucntion, high-resolution glare-free ADB, road projection of tracking assistant and symbols as warnings can be realized. The demonstrator showcases low/high beams, and tracking assistant and symbols on the road.

ALIYOS™
ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology from ams OSRAM creates unprecedented effects in automotive lighting.
ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology pushes boundaries of multi-segmented area lighting and enables customization of light emission patterns. Characteristics such as transparency, thinness, 2.5D bendability and freedom to create new lighting effects are realized. ALIYOS™ LED-on-foil technology enables creation of customized, multi-segment lights in new configurations such as three-dimensional structures or ‘invisible’ lights on curved panels.

P1515
The SYNIOS® P1515 family enables the creation of a homogeneous appearance in extended light bars and other automotive rear lighting applications and makes their design far simpler and easier. By replacing toplooker LEDs with the SYNIOS® P1515 sidelookers an extremely high level of homogeneity can be achieved with the same depth of optical stack as for toplooker LEDs, but with substantially fewer LEDs and LED drivers. With the same number of SYNIOS® P1515 LEDs as in a toplooker-based arrangement, an RCL or turn indicator can be produced with a far thinner and simpler optical assembly. This opens new potential to create dramatic and distinctive shapes in new RCL designs.

XLS: eXchangeable LED lightSource
The ECE standard (UN R128) platform makes it easy to change between modules from different suppliers, and is expected to bring economical benefits as standardization to lever for high volume production.  This product, which has been standardized for in-vehicle use, will not only be offered as a highly reliable off-the-shelf product, but will also ensure stable availability over the long term and strengthen the supply chain.
In addition, we currently have a lineup of standard LED light source modules that are necessary for vehicle lighting, including red/amber/white modules for signal lights, white modules for forward lights (fog).

Open System Protocol (OSP)
Ambient lighting is getting more and more important for car interior design with backlit trim and dynamic animations. In modern cars it is more and more used also to realize functions and seamlessly merging with the human machine interfaces.
To deal with this complexity at a reasonable cost in the centralizing system architectures of cars, automotive suppliers need a reliable, flexible and easy to implement communication backbone and system architecture.
For that purpose, ams OSRAM has developed the so-called Open System Protocol (OSP). This protocol is open for everybody and free of any license. It is based on a master-slave architecture, allowing to control more then 1,000 devices individually in a chain or star topology. The OSP ecosystem is an open protocol platform which can be used by everybody without any limitation. That means no licenses and full access to protocol descriptions. Partners can participate in the network, make use of the protocol to implement it in their own devices and differentiate by adding their new features. ams OSRAM has already developed two first products for the OSP ecosystem: E3731i, the intelligent RGB module, and the stand alone intelligent driver AS1163, or SAID.

Ambient Lighting RGB ‐ OSIRE® E3731i
The OSIRE® family offers individually addressable LED chips for a maximum of flexibility in terms of color point, driver selection and interconnection in Interior Ambient Lighting. Due to the low profile, the products are ideally suited for coupling into thin lightguides and enables ultra compact designs. We will show dynamic illumination demo with hundreds of intelligent RGB LED OSIRE® E3731i.

Driver IC - AS1163 SAID
AS1163 SAID (Standalone Intelligent Driver) is a mixed signal silicon device optimized for dynamic lighting applications. The basic purpose of AS1163 is to drive 9 LEDs organized in 3 channel triplets (RGB) with an independent PWM dimming dynamic range up to 16 bits. Daisy chain configuration of multiple AS1163 devices will enable cost effective implementation of complex dynamic lighting effects. The communication protocol supported by AS1163 is fully compatible with the ams OSRAM OSIRE E3731i. AS1163 will support additional features such as I²C gateway, parallel connection, power-rail feedback, analog readout.

LiDAR
ams-OSRAM implements very innovative technology for wavelength stability over temperature on its EELs.
This technology enables LiDAR manufactures to apply much narrower bandpass filter at RX side for SNR improvement dramatically.
ams OSRAM’s simulation and market feedback suggest that this can lead up to ~40% range increase thanks to higher SNR.
Our demonstrator will show how it stable compared with conventional technology.

ICARUS -In cabin sensing
ICARUS is a proof-of-concept for advanced DMS mounted in the instrument cluster or A-pillar. The ams OSRAM 3D sensing system provides high-resolution depth maps using a structured light method. It uses an ams OSRAM depth-extraction algorithm which offers scope for even higher performance in future for customers which support custom product development. The system is implemented with automotive vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) near infrared (NIR) flood and dot pattern projectors from ams OSRAM.

Position Sensor
The future are vehicles with the ability of autonomous driving. In this case, there are several driver-monitoring features necessary. One typical application for autonomous driving is detection of human hands on the steering wheel. The AS8579 capacitive sensor implements a novel technique for capacitive sensing, performing separation of resistive and capacitive parts (amount/share/proportion) of the impedance measured over the sensor element. This technique more reliably detects the presence of the driver’s hands when wearing gloves, or in humid conditions, than the charge-discharge method of capacitive sensing in use in vehicles today. This means that the AS8579 helps car manufacturers improve the safety of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), while also reducing the cost of the hands-on detection system: the AS8579 can senses the impedance of the existing steering wheel’s heater element.
