With technology advances and consumer upgrades, LED bulbs are becoming a rising star in residential lighting. Higher brightness, longer lifetime and outstanding environmental-friendly performance are making them very popular among consumers. It was in such a context that the world-leading lighting company LEEDARSON Group launched a new LED bulb series in March this year and the bulbs are sold in over 400 stores of a home furnishing retailer. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, supplier of LEDs as core light sources for this series, has developed a range of customized light strips to meet LEEDARSON’s requirements on special applications and technical requirements.

The new LED bulb series have a long lifetime of about 25,000 hours, which means about 20 times more than ordinary incandescent lamps. They can be controlled with dimmer switches. When the bulb is dimmed, the color temperature automatically decreases, which easily creates a soft and cosy light. The customized stick filament LED offered by OSRAM Opto Semiconductors can provide the high-quality of light, and make LED bulbs dimmable with double color temperature (2,200 K - 3,000 K). The amazing dimmable feature means that brightness can be adjusted by users’ needs and an 85% reduction in power consumption can be achieved. Hence the users can enjoy a more comfortable space with lower electricity costs.

“To meet special needs of the customer, we developed a stick filament LED, DURIS® T, that enables heat dissipation without gas filling. Unlike gas-filled glass filaments, this product has a simplified design and a much higher level of reliability. This is the first time that our General Lighting segment has customized a product which our company has never had for an exclusive customer. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is always a great partner for product development whatever your needs are.” said Vincent Chen, Application Engineering General Lighting Director of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.

According to Wang Qiyuan, Technical Director at LEEDARSON Group, “This is not the first collaboration between OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and LEEDARSON. Our partnership almost covers all product lines. For example, full spectrum products of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors are used in horticulture lighting, and Duris series are applied as light source in smart bulbs and IR ranging in IoT-based access control devices.”

This collaboration with LEEDARSON Group not only marks the beginning of the product customization drive, but also shows its confidence and resolve to enter the global general lighting market. More importantly, it opens up infinite possibilities for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors to help its clients to implement a product-differentiation strategy. As Jiang Hongkui, Project Manager at LEEDARSON Group, put it, “The product customization experience this time means that the two companies have reached a higher level of cooperation. It’s innovation but not once for all. I believe more such collaborations are yet to come.”
