Top experts and company executives will share technical insight into the latest lighting and sensing products, discuss current industry trends and address strategies for future growth.
“Our continued CES presence demonstrates our commitment to innovation and our position as a trusted lighting and sensing leader,” said Conrad Rodriguez, Sr. Vice President of Sales, Americas Region, of ams OSRAM. “Our breakthrough technologies, strong customer relationships and manufacturing expertise are helping shape a safer, more sustainable and more livable world.”
ams OSRAM’s private meeting room will feature more than a dozen live demonstrations of products that enable game-changing solutions across many key industries.
Automotive & Mobility
Experience crystal-clear, glare-free vision at night with the EVIYOS™ HD 25 LED, which was first featured in the lighting system of the Opel & Vauxhall Grandland, and is now also introduced in the Opel & Vauxhall Astra and Astra Sport Tourer. This innovative headlight was developed by ams OSRAM and Marelli to improve visibility for drivers at night. The central component is ams OSRAM’s EVIYOS HD 25, a high-definition, full-range adaptive drive beam LED. The compact and energy-efficient LED delivers an aspect ratio of 1:4 and integrates more than 25,000 individually addressable pixels. The technology enables precise light distribution for optimal illumination under various driving conditions at night. EVIYOS is available in many other vehicles around the globe, including the Volkswagen Tiguan and Nio ET9.
Two other CES demos highlight the advantages of Open System Protocol (OSP) in automotive lighting. The OSP protocol is an open, license-free standard that enables dynamic lighting applications through a daisy-chain architecture, allowing individual control of up to 1,000 devices in a single chain.
ICARUS puts the spotlight on safety showcasing ams OSRAM’s market-leading infrared emitter technologies for applications like driver monitoring and in-cabin sensing. The technology demonstrator is featuring both infrared LEDs, as well as an infrared VCSEL.
A high-precision inductive position sensing system delivers absolute angle measurements with exceptional accuracy, which is ideal for advanced motor control and servo drive automotive applications. Fully automotive-qualified and engineered for robust performance in the harshest environments.
Medical & Wearables
ams OSRAM will demonstrate its many compact vital sign monitoring products that help measure heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, body temperature, body composition, and more. Built on a modular platform that includes temperature sensors, LEDs, photodiodes and analog front-end ICs - this system enables small, energy-efficient wearables that integrate multiple functions seamlessly.
Among the latest additions is the new Chip LED™ SFH 2707 photodiode, which features an optimized active area-to-package ratio that delivers up to 24% higher photocurrent across all wavelengths compared to its predecessor. Visitors can learn more about this innovation directly from experts at CES, as well as insight into the future of vital sign monitoring technology.
In addition, the new AS6223 will be presented – a highly precise temperature sensor that is a little larger than a poppy seed. The sensor allows for continuous on-skin temperature measurements via wearable devices. This sensor can be seamlessly integrated into smartwatches, rings and medical patches to more accurately assess glucose readings by incorporating body temperature measurements, for example.
Smart Glasses and AR/VR headsets
The future of smart glasses will be on display with the new VEGALED™. The ultra-compact RGGB (Red, Green, Green, Blue) LED was specifically designed for LCOS based micro-displays in smart glasses. VEGALED enables sleek designs and opens new possibilities for truly wearable, lightweight augmented reality applications. The VEGALED includes four chips in one package to optimize color mixing and increase lighting homogeneity in a target area. ams OSRAM offers this multi-color LED with a footprint of 2.7 x 3.05mm2 with very small chip to chip gaps to enable more efficient system designs. Next-generation projection light engines are already being developed with increased efficiency and brightness enabling smaller designs and a wider field of view.
Eye-safety is another important component in smart glasses and AR/VR headsets. The new AS1181 is an 8-channel, highly integrated and self-contained LED driver for near-to-eye applications. The device incorporates safety monitoring functions and ensures eye-safe operation.
Other ams OSRAM products incorporated in smart glasses and AR/VR headsets are the Firefly™ SFH 4030B and SFH 4060B infrared LEDs with IR:6 chip technology. The two products allow for biometric applications and eye tracking in AR/VR headsets and smart glasses. Their extremely small size makes them ideal for today’s lightweight designs. The new IR:6 technology increases brightness up to 50 percent and improves efficiency up to 33 percent, resulting in extended battery run time and optimized system performance. The infrared LEDs are available at a wavelength of 930nm for optimal camera sensitivity and reduced red glow.
Robotics, Drones & Optical Force Sensing
See our multi-zone and single-zone Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors working in a drone demonstration. The new TMF8829 multi-zone sensor represents a substantial advancement in spatial resolution, increasing conventional zones of 8×8 zones to 48×32 zones. This sensor can detect tiny spatial variations and differentiate between objects that are positioned close together. This precision is essential in applications from robotics to imaging systems. The drone also includes TCS3448, a 14-channel sensor that is optimized to detect spectral components of ambient light in the visible range, which is ideal for camera enhancement applications.
ams OSRAM will launch two new optical force sensing products at CES: AS7150 and SFH7061. The products will enable a new generation of human-machine interaction that is intuitive, minimalistic and adaptable for many applications, such as proximity sensing, over force and zero-force buttons up to multi-buttons. They precisely detect soft, medium and hard presses, and when paired with infrared-transparent surfaces, support both touch and proximity functions. This technology will lead to new designs that are more sensitive, hygienic and cost-effective in everything from smart watches to home appliances and lighting control panels.
Illumination
In a smart cities demo, the award-winning EVIYOS™ Shape LED projects safety warnings, images and maps on roads and buildings on a mini city model. EVIYOS Shape combines 25,600 pixels into a single micro-LED chip array, a breakthrough that leads to exceptional color and brightness uniformity, as well as reduced power consumption. ams OSRAM previously developed EVIYOS technology for the automotive industry – as mentioned above – and has now adapted it for other applications such as architainment, entertainment, machine vision and urban projection for smart cities.
The light pollution demo was designed to expose the negative effects of light pollution and artificial outdoor light, such as washing out the night sky, disrupting ecosystems, wasting energy and impacting human health. This display shows how low blue content light is significantly better for reducing light pollution. Inside the demo is the OSCONIQ® S 5050 GW Q9LR35.PM, which features a robust package and corrosion protection that brings stability to another level, making it ideal for outdoor professional lighting. Also included is the DURIS® E 2835.KM that provides good efficacy and supports energy efficiency regulation.
