Osram to receive three German Design Awards
The German Design Council has announced that three Osram luminaires will be presented with a "Special Mention" award at the 2015 German Design Awards in February 2015. Among the winners are the Arktika-P LED indoor luminaire, the Siteco CL LED family of outdoor luminaires and the Onyx Copilot LED reading light in the "Transportation and Design" category.
Onyx Copilot
The German Design Award is already the second design award of global renown for the Onyx Copilot LED reading light. At the start of 2013 this reading light for car interiors picked up the red dot award. It has a flexible yet robust neck which is made of matt black silicon rubber and the on/off switch is located on the head. It can be connected to the cigarette lighter socket and can be left there permanently while the pleasant warm light enables easy reading.
Arktika-P LED
The Arktika-P LED designer pendant luminaire has already received other awards, for example the 2014 iF product design award. With its reduced size and minimalist design the Arktika-P LED perfectly blends in aesthetically demanding environments, for example in offices, without overpowering the room. A characteristic element is the hexagonal louver which provides precise directional light and meets the requirements for illuminating screen-based workplaces. With a height of less than eight millimeters the Arktika-P LED has one of the lowest profiles of any screen-compatible luminaires on the market, illuminating workplaces either directly or indirectly via the ceiling. The luminaires can be controlled via switches or light management systems based on the DALI standard.
CL LED family
The Siteco CL LED luminaires have a clear and reduced design and provide excellent illumination of a number of outdoor areas close to buildings such as paths, façades and objects. Different versions are available – bollard luminaires, uplights and downlights, linear systems, and LED spotlights.
The German Design Award is presented once a year by the German Design Council. The "Special Mention" award honors products with outstanding design aspects or solutions.
