Sustainability
For ams OSRAM, sustainability means identifying relevant environmental and social aspects, as well as stakeholder requirements along the value chain, and integrating them into our business processes.
This includes, in particular, issues such as resource use, environmental aspects, working conditions, health and safety, and respect for human rights. These are addressed and further developed as part of our strategy and operational management.
Our mission is to develop technologies in the fields of lighting, visualization, and optical sensor technology, and to support our customers in their implementation.
In doing so, we take into account environmental and social considerations throughout our value chain, as well as relevant regulatory requirements. As part of our corporate strategy, sustainability is integrated into the management of risks, opportunities, and value creation. The goal is to contribute to the stability and further development of our business and to address potential impacts on the environment and society.

Renewed Tell ams OSRAM Tool
Several new features were introduced to a renewed Tell ams OSRAM tool:
-
More user-friendly: The interface is now more intuitive and easier for you to use. It also offers a possibility to describe the issue at hand in as much detail as needed.
-
Available in two distinct formats: It can be used via all types of web-browsers or as an application that can be downloaded in the App Store or in the Google Play Store.
-
Protected and secure postbox: Once the report is filed, a protected and secure postbox is automatically created which may be further used for communication with the whistleblower.
-
Available in 22 languages: At best, you can use it in your native language.
-
Accessible 24/7: Tell ams OSRAM can be utilized everywhere and anytime.
What remains unchanged?
The renewed Tell ams OSRAM retains and reinforces core functionalities that protect interests of whistleblowers:
-
State-of-the-art safeguards to protect the data: Information cannot be accessed by unauthorized internal or external parties.
-
Need-to-know principle implemented: The details about reports are shared according to the “need-to-know” principle only with those involved in the report processing or those who can help clarify allegations made.
-
Anonymous reporting: It enables filing anonymous reports, if the user wishes to keep her or his identify secret.
It is also important to emphasize that employees wishing to use Tell ams OSRAM should not fear any kind of retaliation. The details of the reports we receive are never shared with unauthorized individuals. Whistleblowers acting in good faith are protected against any negative consequences by the law and our internal policies.
Sustainability @ ams OSRAM
We support our customers in bringing innovative products to the market that improve the quality of life in terms of health, safety and mobility and thus contribute to sustainable development. At the same time, we help them achieve their own sustainability goals by continuously working to improve the energy efficiency of our products and minimize their environmental footprint.
Energy-efficient optoelectronic products also contribute to solving other global challenges: special sensors in electric cars support the transport transition to e-mobility, while others improve road safety. Our products enable new, affordable applications in the health care sector and resource-saving food production through intelligent, energy-saving plant lighting.
We view sustainability not only as an important pillar of our “license to operate,” but above all as an essential prerequisite for long-term success. Sustainability is therefore a key component of our corporate strategy.
We place particular emphasis on the issue of climate change. We take our responsibility seriously, and in 2021, we set ourselves the goal of achieving carbon-neutral production by 2030. We launched our “Operations Sustainability Program” for our semiconductor production sites in 2023 and have set ourselves ambitious targets. By 2028, energy consumption and emissions at our own semiconductor sites are to be reduced by 20% through efficiency measures, and our electricity supply is to be converted to 100% renewable energy.
As a supporter of the UN Global Compact, we align our business activities and our sustainability strategy with these universally acknowledged principles, including zero tolerance of corruption.
