Osram Opto Semiconductors is pleased to announce that the Oslon SSL 730nm LED received an Innovation Award and a Technology Innovation Award at LIGHTFAIR International 2015. Judged by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals, the LIGHTFAIR Innovation Awards recognize excellence in new lighting products and technologies introduced in the past 12 months, and are one of the industry’s highest honors.
“We take great pride in these LIGHTFAIR Innovation Awards,” said Aldo Kamper, chief executive officer of Osram Opto Semiconductors. “This recognition from our peers is a testament to the creativity and talent of our team. We will continue our dedication to innovative thinking as our industry enters this new era of lighting technology.”
Osram Opto Semiconductors’ Oslon SSL portfolio provides the ideal illumination for all kinds of horticulture. With wavelengths from 450nm to 660nm, and the addition of 730nm far red, these LEDs provide just the right lighting for all types of plants and flowers by allowing adaption of the light exactly to the needs of various crops. Developed for the horticultural market, this ultra-compact 1W class LED offers a prefocused 80 degree or a wide 150 degree radiation pattern.
Applications demanding long lifetimes are well suited to the highly reliable Oslon SSL as LEDs have a longer lifetime than other lighting technologies. LEDs are also energy efficient and thus drastically reduce energy consumption over time. They are especially good for horticulture lighting as they emit no heat in the lighting direction, so plants will not be damaged. Furthermore, LEDs are available in different wavelengths and lighting solutions can be accurately adjusted to the value of the respective plant needs.
Osram Sylvania, the North American lighting leader, was also recognized at LIGHTFAIR International. The Osram OmniPoint LED luminaire received an Innovation Award for the Most Innovative Product of the Year. In addition, the ENCELIUM Wireless Energy Management System was named a finalist in the Controls and Control Software, Building Integration, Site Automation, and Distribution Systems category.
