Description

Open System Protocol (OSP) was developed by ams OSRAM to enable dynamic lighting applications and more. OSP is open for everybody and free of license. It is based on a master-slave architecture, allowing to control more than 1000 devices individually in a chain. OSP is split into a base protocol, covering the lower 3 layers of ISO/OSI, and a device specific application layer.

SAID (Stand-Alone Intelligent Driver) AS1163 fulfilling automotive quality is a best fit for the dynamic lighting applications.

This ams OSRAM Arduino OSP ecosystem evaluation kit supports users to understand and apply the following features of SAID AS1163 and RGBi (OSIRE E37371i):
- I2C interface (e.g. EEPROM included)
- OSP telegram round trip time (measurement)
- Compatability of OSP devices in one application
- 2-wire SPI
- Sync feature of LEDs
- LED Flickering reduction
- Multicasting of LEDs (group control)
- LED brightness adjustment (16bit PWM resolution)
- Direct control of OSP system via PC

This evaluation kit consists of the following parts:
- 1 × OSP32 (motherboard with ESP32 MCU)
- 1 × SAID basic board (RGBi+SAID+I2C dautghterboard)
- 1 × SAID sidelooker board (sidelooker LEDs + SAID)
- 1 × RGBi Strip
