LEDsBIKE: Enhanced safety with LED bicycle lights from Osram

Up to 70 lux for ideal visibility, even off-road

As of August, Osram is expanding its lighting portfolio to include LEDsBIKE bicycle lights. The front bicycle lights are available in three illuminance levels and in full compliance with Germany’s Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). Thanks to energy-efficient LED technology, all three models offer not only hours of light, but also up to 70 lux illuminance, meaning they put significantly more light on the road than most bicycle lights on the market today. The LEDsBIKE RX2 rear light rounds out the product line. All the Osram lights are equipped with a low battery warning system, are rainproof and have a proven two-year Osram guarantee.

Until recently, bicycles on German roads were required by law to have dynamo generators. Anyone caught violating this requirement could face of a fine of up to 15 euros. Nevertheless, many cyclists already were using battery-operated lights on the road. The law needed to be revised to keep up with technology, because the new lights are not inferior to the dynamo generator in any way. On the contrary, they are based on LED technology, have a higher output and enhance road safety by providing significantly more and uniform light. They improve visibility for cyclists, but also make them more visible on the road.

Up to 70 lux on the handlebars

The three LED front lights from Osram ‑ the LEDsBIKE FX70, FX35 and FX10 ‑ provide the ideal light for every kind of cycling: five brightness levels between 10 and 70 lux, the LEDsBIKE FX70 boasts the most intense illuminance, making it a good partner on long treks, rough trails and dark roads. As in a car, the bicycle front light has a daytime running light for enhanced visibility during the day. Another practical feature: the built-in lithium-ion battery can be recharged with a USB charger.

At just 96 grams, the extremely lightweight and compact LEDsBIKE FX35 front light has three different settings from 12 to 35 lux, making it the perfect companion for offroad cycling tours.

The third bicycle light, the LEDsBIKE FX10, is ideally suited to occasional cyclists in nighttime urban traffic. The illuminance of 10 lux is more than sufficient for riders to see and be seen. Designed as a multifunctional light, the LEDsBIKE FX10 also is easy to remove and use as a flashlight, for example when locking up your bike at night in a dark corner. Like the other two members of this product family, it has a clamp attachment for quick mounting on any handlebars with a diameter between 22 to 35 millimeters. The FX10, FX35 and FX70 have a battery level indicator.

To ensure good visibility from the rear, the LEDsBIKE RX2 rear light rounds out this line of bicycle lights from Osram. The red rear light lasts up to 36 hours, ensuring that other traffic participants can see a cyclist at a distance. The new bicycle lights will be available as of July in cycle shops and DIY stores.
