Light + Building 2016: Osram Lamps shows wide product diversity
From trade to retail and lamp to luminaire – new products from the future company Ledvance
The Osram Lamps business unit – to be known as the independent company Ledvance from 1 July – presents both itself and its future portfolio to the public for the first time at Light + Building 2016 – while the company is still being created. In the future as in the past, Ledvance will be primarily producing and selling lamps via the trade and retail sales channels. At the same time, the company portfolio will be successively expanded with LED luminaires for these channels and for the future theme of smart homes.
Ledvance has the widest LED lamp portfolio of all times with the Osram brand for the 2016/2017 light season. The LED retrofits for increasingly diverse applications are becoming ever more similar to their traditional role models. The LED spot portfolio and many other designs are for example now available for the first time in real glass, the successful Glow Dim technology will be offered from summer via the retail channel as well as dimmable LED filaments will also be available. The “Duo Click Dim” and “Activate & Relax” product ranges demonstrate the possibilities offered by lamps with LED technology – Duo Click Dim is dimmed to 30 percent by “clicking” the light switch twice. Active & Relax features two light colours in one lamp – Activating cool white light (4,000 Kelvin) and cosy warm white (2,700 Kelvin); these can be toggled by clicking once or twice. The Classic A ensures a greater sense of security and more convenience with an integrated daylight sensor.
The Edition 1906 references the language of design from the early 20th century, with the name harking back to the founding year of the Osram brand. Various vintage-look lamps are combined with the purist, high quality “PenduLum” luminaire – in gold or black. The functional pull cord principle with various anchor points allows the light to be accurately positioned almost anywhere. The lamps are available optionally with LED filament or halogen technology and come in four traditional shapes.
The continuously expanding retail volume segment is being added to with an attractive range of LED luminaires: With a universal, timeless design and premium materials, a total of 60 products with the Osram brand will be available on the market in the wall and ceiling, work luminaire and spots and downlights categories. With the last two categories the LED light sources are fundamentally replaceable, thus satisfying the sustainability wishes of consumers.
Ledvance is starting in the trade channel with a portfolio offering installers eight product ranges of suitable LED luminaires, with the familiar high quality and for all standard applications. They feature up to 120 lumens/watt, a rated service life of up to 50,000 hours, a concise design and especially simple mounting. Maximum installation flexibility is ensured thanks to an external control unit with the Spot, Downlight and Panel product ranges. The High Bay and Floodlight ranges have been optimized in terms of size and weight with an integrated control unit.
For professional applications, the new Substitube T8 tubes feature light output to 3,600 lumens at 150 lumens/watt. These enable electricity savings of up to 67 percent by simply replacing traditional T8 lamps. The flagship model of the range, the Substitube Connected, even achieves up to 90 percent. Up to 50 of these LED tubes can be wirelessly connected to a sensor that detects daylight and movement – this can steplessly dim the light when not required. For the first time for the coming light season, an LED replacement for T5 tubes will also be available providing savings of up to 50 percent, lumen output to 5600 lumens and an efficiency of 150 lumens/watt.
Simultaneously to the classic lighting applications, the extensive smart lighting portfolio of Lightify Home is being successively further developed in the smart home sector, for example with the two new products Lightify Plug, a socket that is switchable via an app and Lightify Switch, an individually configurable mobile switch for Lightify products.
In the professional Smart Building sector the company presents its first product focusing on energy efficiency: The flexible “Mobile Energy Monitoring” measuring system featuring Wago technology and developed by Osram experts enables individual energy consumption measurements for buildings in real time with evaluation. The advantages of this solution coming in a handy case are that it’s mobile and thanks to plug & play can be used straight away. After use the system can then be simply disconnected and used again with the next commission. As such, the tool optimally supports the work of energy service providers and consultants.
