TQ Engineering GmbH is a development service provider and manufacturer for customized lighting solutions, with a focus on high-luminance light sources, projection systems and laser-based optical engines. The services that TQ provides range from concept studies, demonstrator and predevelopment studies to full engineering projects for series introduction.

The development of digital projection solutions for static or dynamic images is one of TQs core areas. Digitally controlled lighting distributions lead to new lighting functions or extended customer benefits in many applications, for example in automotive lighting with high-resolution headlights or in projectors for displaying logos or communication content.

The use of lasers in illumination or projection systems is appropriate if maximum light output or special lighting effects are to be achieved. Examples are light sources of very high luminance by blue laser diodes that are used as an excitation source in converter modules. In effect or stage lighting, the low beam divergence of RGB lasers is a key feature. Lasers are particularly suited in applications with optical fibers, since the usage of laser light enables efficient coupling. We are using the latest laser diode technologies, laser collimation know-how and long-term expertise in thermal and mechanical design to realize cutting-edge and innovative laser systems.

Partnership focus

Digital projection systems: the focus of the collaboration is on the optimization and development of projection systems for automotive and industrial use cases, for instance for digital ground projection, HUD or interior automotive applications. For instance, using ams OSRAM’s OSTARTM Projection LEDs, will lead to smaller and brighter video projectors to be used for ground projection. Other technologies like ams OSRAM EviyosTM pixelated LEDs are also investigated for projection systems with medium resolution.
