ams AS8510 Analog Front-End

This Copper-Shunt based current sensor demo utilizes the AS8510 for current measurement and thermal-coefficient compensation. It is intended for a current range of ~40A operation and 60A maximum. Two measurement paths are provided. The left one uses the AS8510’s internal temperature sensor and the right one uses a fine copper meander trace to sense temperature.

The AS8510 Demo Kit for AS8510 data acquisition front-end IC allows easy evaluation of the AS8510 features. Its USB connector allows easy access to all the chips features via a user friendly graphical PC interface. The GUI is supplied with the evaluation board and can be used to plot measured data as well as to access all the device registers and evaluate special settings. The AS8510 Arduino Shield Reference Design is an add-on to the very popular Arduino Series of µC development boards. The reference design allows to measure current and voltage via the AS8510 A/D IC and to use the measured data in any Arduino sketch. Schematic and layout are available as download with no restrictions. Libraries to interface to the Arduino IDE as well as example code can be downloaded for easy setup of this board. The USB Interface Board enables communication between the Copper-Shunt Demo and PC. The kit consists of the dual layer PCB USB Interface Board and a HDMI Type-D to Type-C Cable which is used to connect demo board.
