TCS3530 is an ultra-sensitive color sensor that matches the response of the human eye to visible light. The sensor’s highly accurate measurements of chromaticity and illuminance support superior automatic white balancing in cameras, as well as sophisticated display color management. Fully integrated optical assembly with built-in diffuser backed by end-of-line calibration simplifies manufacturers’ production processes and optical designs.
The TCS3530 Evaluation Kit comes with everything needed to evaluate the TCS3530 true color ambient light sensor module. The evaluation kit comprises of a main controller board with an EVM microcontroller, an industry standard USB 2.0 interface (with an USB cable), a TCS3530 module daughter card, "plug-n-play" USB HID class drivers, software documentation, and GUI software allowing users to control the ambient light sensor settings as the PIC takes the TCS3530 I²C digital outputs to calculate ambient light sensing and flicker detection.
The device features advanced digital ambient light sensing (ALS) and CIE 1931 tristimulus color sensing (XYZ). Each of the channels has a filter to control its optical response, which allows the device to accurately measure ambient light and sense color. These measurements are used to calculate chromaticity, illuminance and color temperature, all of which are used to support various potential applications. The TCS3430 is ideally suited for use in smartphone applications to improve color measurement and intensity of ambient light conditions. The sensor can also be used to assist the smartphone camera sensor with color sensing of ambient light to enhance and improve picture white balance to deliver more realistic and vibrant images.
